The suspect in a Blount County shooting earlier this month has been charged with criminal homicide following the victim's death after more than a week in the hospital. Benjamin Absher, 29, of Louisville, now faces one count of criminal homicide in the death of 63-year-old Sammy Garland Jr. He remains in custody at the Blount County Correctional Facility ahead of a scheduled court appearance on Thursday, June 6.
