Winners of the Boyertown Citizen of the Year Awards will be honored at the 67th Annual Citizen of the Year Gala at the Boyertown Museum of Historical Vehicles on Saturday, June 19.
âThe event is held to honor people or organizations that contribute to our society to make it the special kind of place it is,â said Lindsey Mason, a Citizen of the Year committee member and last year's (66th Annual) Citizen of the Year recipient.
The awards and gala are organized by the Citizen of the Year committee, comprised of past Citizen of the Year recipients and other community members.
When Berks County men marched off to World War II, women went to work making trucks and ambulances for the nation's war effort at Boyertown Auto Body Works. The photo is part of a "Rosie the Riveter" exhibit at the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles.

Winners of the 67th Boyertown Citizen of the Year Awards have been announced with the Citizen of the Year Award going to Kim Slonaker.
Also, First Responder of the Year has been awarded to Andrew Duncan; Mentor of the Year is Donnie Ellixson, Senior Student of the Year Co-Winners are Jake Dawson and Kelsey Brinckman, and the Special Recognition Award goes to the Optimist Club of Boyertown.
âThe purpose of the Citizen of the Year Awards is to honor and recognize people that are contributing to our community in big ways,â said Lindsey Mason of the Citizen of the Year board. âThis year's winners are phenomenal additions to the decades of Citizen of the Year winners. We are very proud of them and we are so appreciative of the work they have done for our community. We are very excited to honor them!â
