Retirement won't last very long for Helga Bryant. The soon-to-be outgoing CEO of the Northern Health Region will become the new University College of the North (UCN) Dean of Health next year.
University College of the North announced Aug. 18 that Helga Bryant will take over as its dean of health in May 2023 after retiring as health region CEO.
Helga Bryant plans to retire from her role as Northern Regional Health Authority CEO next March 30, the Northern Manitoba health authority said June 23.

Brian Schoonbaert has been named Prairie Mountain Health’s new top official as Penny Gilson prepares to step down at the end of the month.

The health region made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon.

Schoonbaert was the former CEO of the Brandon Regional Health Authority before it amalgamated in 2012 with the Assiniboine and Parkland regional health authorities. Since then, he has held a number of roles in Prairie Mountain Health, including as vice-president of finance.
"Brian comes with the requisite wealth of experience related to both the provincial health-care sector and within the health region," PMH board chair Mark Frison said in a press release.
