Ambassador of the Peopleâs Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam Yu Hong on Monday praised Brunei for controlling COVID-19.
The ambassador addressing the local media at The Riqzun International Hotel said the COVID-19 pandemic is still raging around the world.
“Some Asian countries have encountered new surges, while some have been keeping high number of cases for a fairly long period of time,” she said.
“Brunei Darussalamâs pandemic control has achieved remarkable results thanks to the strong leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muâizzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar âAli Saifuddien Saâadul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the governmentâs effective policies and public cooperation. There have been no reports of local cases for 383 consecutive days,” she said.

Last Friday, she said, “Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the Global Health Summit and delivered important remarks via video. He reiterated that it is imperative for us to reject vaccine nationalism and find solutions to issues concerning the production capacity and distribution of vaccines to make vaccines more accessible and affordable in developing countries.
