wildfires. yep, that s right. in fact, new overnight, some of those very same areas you re mentioning have gone from evacuation warning to evacuation order by local officials. and that means it s actually unlawful to remain within this particular area as this atmospheric river of moisture just unloads itself across the western u.s. making those burn areas particularly vulnerable. we talk about this bomb cyclone. there is a specific definition to the storm. it s a strengthening process that takes place over the open ocean waters. there s a lot of wind and moisture associated with it. it s creating this, what we call atmospheric river tapping into the pacific moisture. that is going to allow significant amounts of precipitation. you can see over the next 36 hours across central and northern california all the way to oregon as well as washington. the threats here, flash flooding, but the debris floe, that s the concern. that s where the evacuation orders are underway. santa barbara, san
we re seeing the heavy, heavy rain and we re looking at upper mountain snow, and good news for the skiers but the places where we re seeing some rain, we have the burn areas and we could see some flooding. speaking of rainfall, we re not talking about a ton of rain, but still talking about a half of an inch and we will see localized flooding especially oni, on rams traveling around. and that will impact the air and interstates. so for air travel, phoenix, rainstorms. very likely, we are going to see some delays there. back to the west, los angeles, san diego, and possibly seeing those air delays, and if we re traveling on the roads, not looking so great, on interstate 5, las vegas to san diego, and los angeles, to phoenix, also slow there and then back to the west on interstate 5, we will see some slowdowns as well. and southwest rain and snow, we re talking about that, this will track to the east and then eventually going to see some rain, impacting parts of the east but that is not u
good morning. good to see you. we have an area of low pressure just to the west of california. it s basically acting as a moisture conveyer belt, if you will. on the southern flank, all sorts of moisture will get pulled in resulting along in heavy rain along the coast and valleys. and talking about higher elevation snowfall. this will be an event throughout the day, the rain will continue to be quite heavy, at times, as waves of moisture begin to come in. as the air will get clocked with significant snow. we re talking feet in just the next 24 to 48 hours. but amara may have a point. we have lots of burn areas in california. this area is particularly vulnerable to any significant rain. we re going have one, perhaps 3 inches, that s going to be the range. that will be enough to provide us with the danger. the wind gusts not terrible but 30 to 58 miles per hour. here is the low as we put the forecast in motion to see it continues in coming on shore bringing the heavy rain and

some isolated areas saw five and six inches of precipitation. six inches for international viewers would be about 150 millimeters. what are we expecting in the forecast? one area of low pressure moves on shore. another one is going to follow right behind it. that particular low pressure system is going to drop those snow levels. so lake tahoe, i mentioned that, a lot of people very popular this time of year, could see as much as 12 inches of snowfall just from this particular event. also, into the sierra nevada, more snowfall with near blizzard conditions. rainfall continues all the way from the bay area down towards los angeles. lesser amounts expected further south right around san diego. but this has become very problematic. some of the burn areas, they could see some mud debris affect some of the low lying areas. all right, in townsville, queensland, australia, look at the video, this from drone
