Denison's Wilson honored for faith-centric, other area contributions

Denison student Margaret “Meg” Wilson, Class of 2021, is the 74th recipient of the Kussmaul Award. Since 1947, the Louis Kussmaul Friendship Award — jointly presented by Denison University and the Granville Area Chamber of Commerce — has been given annually to the Denison University student (traditionally a senior) who has contributed the most to building friendly relations between Denison and the Granville community. The award is a formal recognition of those who have given of themselves to the greater community during their Denison years. A $300 prize is awarded the winning nominee. Wilson, of Bexley, Ohio, received the award during a virtual Chamber of Commerce lunch meeting on April 21.

UM's Camp Kesem raises thousands as members seek to reach more campers

Amid COVID-19, the University of Miami Camp Kesem is continuing to “Make The Magic” happen for it campers with virtual forms of connecting and fundraising. Camp Kesem, a national organization with chapters at colleges across the country, aims to bring community to children whose parents or guardians have been afflicted with cancer. Under normal circumstances, students involved in UM’s chapter spend the year fundraising and getting ready for their main event: a 10-day long, Orlando-based camp spent playing games and building relationships with campers. USG Executive Council candidates outline their priorities for ongoing election – The Statesman

STATESMAN FILE By Alek Lewis and Maya Brown The candidates for the Executive Council of Stony Brook University’s Undergraduate Student Government (USG) debated their platforms on March 26.  USG elections started on SBEngaged on March 29 and will be held until April 2 at noon. Candidates are elected by a simple majority.  USG controls the funds of sponsored student clubs and organizations on campus, which are mostly funded by the student activity fee. It also represents the undergraduate population at the university and hosts its own events as a part of student life. USG is composed of two branches of student-elected representatives, elected to either the Senate or the Executive Council.

ShamROCK the 'Burg still on for 2021 | Williamsburg Yorktown Daily

Those feeling hungry (and generous) still have something to celebrate for St. Patrick’s Day this year. The Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg’s annual fundraiser — ShamROCK the ‘Burg — is scheduled for March 12-13 at the Culture Cafe, 747 Scotland St. from 3-6 p.m. “Every meal purchase will include a chance to win an amazing prize!” according to Culture Cafe’s Facebook post. “The lucky winner, accompanied by three friends, will enjoy a three-hour tour of the Mobjack Bay aboard the 40-foot Bay Retriever, a Mainship Motor Yacht. The cruise includes a Luau Dinner prepared by Chef Scott Hoyland.” Attendees can choose from a traditional Irish dinner or a seven-course Irish meal.
