President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the sudden and tragic death of Chadian President, Idriss Deby, on the front line, fighting against rebel soldiers.
The Street Journal had earlier reported that President Deby died on the frontline while battling rebels from Libya that have been troubling the Sahel country.
Reacting to the incident on Tuesday, President Buhari said, “I’m deeply shocked and devastated by the sudden death of Idriss Deby on the battlefront to defend the sovereignty of his country.”
The President, in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu in Abuja, further said, “The late Deby had played a very active role in our regional joint collaboration in the military campaign against the Boko Haram terrorists.”
