the hon. london breed: thank you. i am excited to be here. thank you, cheryl lynn, and thank you to larkin street for all the work that you continue to do to support young people in san francisco and huckaberry, i m excited to have this organization as well as other organizations for partnering what we are announcing today, which is a $9.3 million grant from the department of social services for the state of california, which is absolutely incredible. [applause] the hon. london breed: this was a very competitive grant, and it was awarded to ten partnering organizations who helped to deal with the challenges that we know sadly so many of our young people face around sexual exploitation. in fact, in 2017 in san francisco, we had over 300 reported cases from young people of sexual exploitation. and in most cases, they were women of color and women from our lgbtq community. we know that just last year, cheryl lynn and the folks from larkin street, we announced the ris
given it s a voice here. i support this legislation, as well. next speaker, please. if there any more speakers, if you would line up behind this gentleman. this is a good proposal, and i agree with it. i wish you would ve had it during the younger years when i was in fillmore. each and every one of these people that came up here and explained why they want this, to have this type of protection, they are also crying out because it is their source of income in order to support themselves. this proposal, to displace them, is an example of gentrification. gentrification is a word that is used to discriminate against people based on geographical locations. you are doing it to them, and even though their skin color is not black, it is the same type of treatment that black people had to suffer in the western addition of fillmore. for example, gentrification in washington is taking place, there is an attorney that has the same type of philosophy as me and suing washington, d.c. f
but first, to the top story. amazon and walmarts grand plan has been thrown into chaos. the indian government putting new regulations that cuts growth in the markets by as much as half. amazon and walmart s slip card are banned from making exclusive for sellers matt, we start with you. jeff bezos invested $5 billion in india, went to the country and put on ceremonial guards, so what has gone wrong for him in india? i think he underestimated the local economy and the country new to e-commerce rather than a superstore model. there s a lot of little copies that have sway. we have seen amazon do pretty well in parts of europe, we saw them get creamed in china, they have new businesses in brazil in the middle east and in the middle east, but india was where they were going to reinvigorate. it s hard to know the impact. amazon does not disclose their sales in india, but it s clear that was a very important growth market for amazon and for jeff bezos, and frankly, for a
