The Village of Belmont sets plans for school gymnasium | News, Sports, Jobs

For The Times Leader Photo Provided Belmont Police Chief Andrew Miller recently announced that this 2010 Crown Victoria cruiser that was donated to the village by the St. Clairsville Police department was ready to be put into service. Village officials expressed their appreciation to St. Clairsville for the cruiser and to Ed Tacosik of Logotek who put decals on the vehicle for free. BELMONT — Village Council made plans to reopen the Belmont Gymnasium for rentals beginning in April and to hold the annual Easter egg hunt and Memorial Day parade and services in the village. The Belmont Gym, which for years has been a popular site for a variety of gatherings and events and a regular source of income for the village, has been closed for public use since early 2020 due to the coronovirus outbreak.

New grant provides citrus trees for public consumption in Lafourche and Terrebonne

Residents will soon have free access to fresh fruit in Terrebonne and Lafourche thanks to a grant received by the St. Francis Vegetable Garden in Thibodaux. The $3,000 grant from Louisiana Healthy Communities Coalition has provided 90 key lime, lemon and orange trees to be planted around the area for public consumption. The grant money was designed to help provide free, healthy food to the public,  especially to those with limited access to fresh fruits. More trees have been acquired for the project through local donations to the garden, and the total number to be planted has already exceeded 100. Cheryl Skinner, garden coordinator of the St. Francis Vegetable Garden, said the trees will go to community sites such as schools, churches and recreation centers.
