Flintshire Council responds to face mask punishment claims at high school

A HIGH school has no policy of punishing students who choose not to wear face masks, Flintshire Council has said. The local authority has responded to allegations from parents that students at St Richard Gwyn High School in Flint were being placed in isolation if they wouldn't wear face coverings. Flintshire Council said the school has no such policy and is urging any concerned parents to contact the school directly. One parent told the Leader: "I have two children at the school who are being forced to wear masks. "One of them comes home feeling sick, with an extreme headache and is taking pain killers almost daily.

Children self-isolating after positive Covid-19 case at Ewloe Green primary school

PRIMARY pupils at Ewloe Green have been asked to self-isolate following a confirmed coronavirus case. Parents at Ewloe Green Primary school were sent an email from the headteacher informing them of a positive Covid-19 case. NHS Wales Test, Trace, Protect has been informed and the school will remain open. All close contacts of the case have been identified and asked to self-isolate. Claire Homard, Chief Officer Education and Youth said: "Whilst rates of Covid-19 have dropped significantly in Flintshire, the virus is still circulating and it is inevitable that new cases will be identified. "Where those positive cases in schools have been in contact with others within their infectious period then schools will continue to follow the Public Health Wales guidance and isolate that cohort.
