Work on building a state-of-the-art Eco Centre in Oldham is due to start in the summer. Plans have been approved to develop a new office with sustainable energy solutions for the borough’s environmental services teams in Alexandra Park. Oldham Council say the work is the first stage of plans to become the greenest borough in Greater Manchester. Cllr Sean Fielding, Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills, said: “The new workspace will be a key component in the Eco Centre vision and we look forward to seeing it take shape and pave the way for further phases of the masterplan.

Coronavirus business grants open for hospitality and leisure suppliers Date published: 18 December 2020 Businesses such as caterers, sound and lighting, venue dressing companies and events management firms can all apply. Businesses which directly supply the hospitality and leisure sectors and have been impacted by coronavirus restrictions could benefit from a new cash grant scheme.  Oldham Council has launched supply chain grants to support businesses that have suffered a loss in trade due to local or national restrictions – including tier 2, tier 3 and the most recent national lockdown.  Businesses that pay business rates and those who do not pay rates can apply.   Priority will be given to businesses that operate out of commercial premises but applications from businesses that have at least two employees will also be considered.
