In the recent Pavs Pembrokeshire Volunteering Awards, Maggie received the Trustee Award. The accolade comes as Maggie steps down from Span Arts after over 30 years of service. A Pavs spokeswoman said: "Trustees are often the ‘unsung heroes’ of a charity, who give their time to ensure the organisation is financially safe, well run and legal, whilst also supporting the mission of the organisation - sometimes in difficult circumstances. "Maggie has been the backbone of Span Arts, bringing her diligent, committed and caring influence to the arts charity. "Maggie was part of an enthusiastic group who ran the Narberth Children's Festivals in the 80s, as well as supporting the programme at the Queens Hall, Narberth.
Covid linked rises in unemployment and domestic abuse are driving up homelessness, councils have told LGC, as the number of people living in temporary accommodation across England hit the highest level in 14 years.
More than 253,000 people across England – half of whom are children - were homeless and living in temporary accommodation in June 2020, latest government figures reveal. This is 115,000 more than a decade ago, an increase of 371%, according to a report released earlier this month by the charity Shelter.
The ‘Homeless and Forgotten’ report warned the economic fallout of Covid could “turbo-charge this crisis”, with the number of people in temporary accommodation jumping by 6,000 (2%) alone in the first three months of the pandemic.
