THE relaxation of Covid rules over Christmas is going to make the festive period and the coming New Year the toughest yet for coronavirus in Sandwell – a health boss has warned. Dr Lisa McNally, director of public health, has said despite recent falls in case numbers and rates of infections the prospect of the next few weeks keeps her awake at night. Speaking to councillors this week, she said: “You only have to look at the news to see the pictures of shops being full and then we have a break in restrictions over Christmas when households will come together more, that inevitably will have a serious impact on infection rates.”
