SC septic tank permits aren't getting proper review | Commentary

DHEC is moving forward with approving more detrimentally placed septic systems near South Carolina waterways, without undertaking the required coastal zone review. The agency approved 44 septic tank permits in the White Tract development in Awendaw which is within the boundaries of Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge and adjacent to the Francis Marion National Forest. Part of the tract abuts the Intracoastal Waterway and Sewee Bay.
