Erstmals seit rund elf Monaten ist die Corona-Inzidenz unter 5 gefallen. Das Robert-Koch-Institut (RKI) gab den bundesweiten Wert am Samstagmorgen mit 4,9 an (Vortag 5,0; Vorwoche 5,9). Zuletzt hatte der Wert am 30. Juli 2020 mit 4,8 unter der 5er-Schwelle gelegen. Die Gesundheitsämter in Deutschland meldeten zudem binnen eines Tages 671 Corona-Neuinfektionen, wie aus Zahlen vom Morgen hervorgeht, die den Stand des RKI-Dashboards von 5.01 Uhr wiedergeben.

Climate change may have influenced the outbreaks of the novel coronavirus as well as the 2002-03 SARS pandemic virus, suggests a new study which says the global crisis triggered by the release of greenhouse gasses likely altered the distribution of bat species that carry these pathogens. The study, published in the journal Science of The Total Environment, noted that the southern Chinese Yunnan province and neighbouring regions in Myanmar and Laos form a global hotspot of climate change-driven increase in bat richness.
