KKK Flyers Spread in Huntington Beach, Prompting Anti-Racism Resolutions

KKK Flyers Spread in Huntington Beach, Prompting Anti-Racism Resolutions City councilmembers in Huntington Beach, California, have passed two new resolutions against racism after flyers promoting a group called the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) were deposited on lawns in the city over Easter weekend. The flyers showed a white-hooded figure, had the group’s name printed on them, and contained text similar to that on the group’s website regarding its ideology. The flyers also had the words “White Lives Matter,” printed on them, prompting a link between them and social media advertisements for a White Lives Matter rally in Huntington Beach April 11.

Huntington Beach is Clamping Down on Defiant E-Bike Riders

Huntington Beach is Clamping Down on Defiant E-Bike Riders The move was attributed to the increasing popularity of e-bikes along the eight-mile Huntington Beach coastal trail. Concerns over the power-assisted bikes have been voiced in letters of complaint to Huntington Beach staff and council, councilmembers said. Councilmember Natalie Moser said she has received regular emails from people who “have been in accidents or almost been in accidents as a result of bikers on the path … a good portion of them were e-bikes.” Huntington Beach has already banned e-bikes from its beaches, bike paths, and sidewalks. It limits bicycle speed to 10 miles per hour (mph) on the designated paths and 5 mph when pedestrians are present.
