PETALING JAYA: The Sarawak police will handle initial investigations into allegations of misconduct and abuse of power involving its Deputy Police Commissioner, says Bukit Aman.
The Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) had said Deputy Comm Datuk Fisol Salleh would be investigated.
JIPS director Comm Datuk Zamri Yahya said Sarawak police would handle the initial investigations.
"Because of Covid-19, we cannot simply go to Sarawak, so we let them handle it first and we will send investigators if there is a need for a more thorough investigation," Comm Zamri told reporters after visiting the roadblock at the Kota Damansara toll plaza here on Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police investigation, through the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS), regarding the alleged abuse of power involving a senior state police officer will focus on his behaviour and involvement with dubious individuals.
Bukit Aman JIPS director Datuk Zamri Yahya said police would investigate the possibility of the senior police officer’s involvement with undesirable characters, including those involved in gambling and smuggling activities.
“We have received many complaints about his alleged involvement with individuals with suspicious backgrounds, for instance being associated with gambling and such in the state.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has shortlisted candidates to fill the vacancy for the post of Deputy Inspector General of Police, said Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.
He said that the police had submitted the list of names to the Police Force Commission (SPP) for consideration.

The newly appointed IGP said he would discuss the list of candidates with the Home Minister and Home Ministry secretary-general before shortlisted names are referred to the Police Force Commission (SPP).
"The SPP will decide who will be the next Deputy IGP.
"The appointment of Deputy IGP is very important and it will be expedited. It will be done along with the appointments of several Bukit Aman department directors, to replace those who are retiring," he said at a press conference in Bukit Aman on Thursday (May 6).

In his last media conference as the Inspector-General of Police, Abdul Hamid said in his two years heading the force, he had fought corruption and raised the integrity of PDRM.
“I fought corruption within the force...I do not want the force to be used to scare the people by carrying out dirty work.
“PDRM should be fair regardless of race, religion and people,” he said and hoped his successor would continue the efforts to eradicate corrupt practices among police officers and personnel.
