Cuomo has announced New York's statewide COVID-19 positivity rate dropped to 1.79 percent, the lowest since November 3.   Yesterday, Western New York's positivity rate was 2.84 percent, below 3 percent for the first time since March 27. The region's 7-day average positivity rate fell to 3.75 percent - every region's 7-day average positivity rate is below 4 percent for the first time since November 8, 2020.   "It's critical we continue practicing safe behaviors even as vaccinations climb, and while I know some may feel COVID fatigue setting in, we have to keep doing what we can to keep each other safe," Governor Cuomo said. "While the state continues to expand access to the vaccine, it's on all of us to wash our hands, wear masks and stay socially distanced to keep our momentum heading in the right direction. We're going to reach the light at the end of the tunnel and defeat the COVID beast, but we have a lot of work to do before we get there."

Governor Cuomo Announces Spectators Will be Allowed at Horse and Auto Races at 20 Percent Capacity Beginning April 22

Cuomo has announced that spectators will be allowed at horse and auto races at 20 percent capacity, beginning Thursday, April 22. Spectators will be subject to the State's strict guidance, which is currently in effect for other professional sports competitions with fans. Attendees must show proof of a recent negative test or completed vaccination series prior to entry and are subject to the State's health and safety protocols on face coverings, social distancing, and health screening.   The Governor also announced that the curfew for food and beverage establishments will be moved from 11 p.m. to midnight effective Monday, April 19. The curfew for catered events will move from midnight to 1 a.m.

Today the Statewide 7-Day Average Positivity Falls Below 3.00% For First Time Since November 24 Total COVID hospitalizations are 3,754, which is the lowest since November  29. Of the 243,171 tests reported yesterday, 5,704 were positive. There are 849 Patients in the ICU, the lowest since December 4 There are  520 Intubated, lowest since December 7. The overall positivity rate is now 2.35% of total.
