More than 465 feminist leaders — working in the spheres of entertainment, politics, advocacy, business, media, politics, and social justice — have signed a new open letter published by GLAAD, in solidarity with transgender women. Arriving on Trans Day of Visibility (March 31), the GLAAD letter recognises that “trans women and girls have been an integral part of the fight for gender liberation”. “We uphold that truth,” it reads, “and denounce the ongoing anti-transgender rhetoric and efforts we witness in various industries.”
“We acknowledge with clarity and strength that transgender women are women and that transgender girls are girls. And we believe that honoring the diversity of women’s experiences is a strength, not a detriment to the feminist cause.”

My Bloody Valentine’s entire back catalogue — including 2013’s
m b v — has been released online for the first time, following the announcement that they have signed with Domino Records. That’s not the only good news for fans of the pioneering shoegaze band, though, as new music is also on the way. Two albums, to be specific, which were originally slated for release in 2020.
“Our original plan was we would record both the albums back-to-back and then go tour on that,” says frontman Kevin Shields, in a March 31 interview with the
New York Times. “And that would have been this year, you know, but everything really did slow down.”
Pose icon Dominique Jackson also star in this season’s extravaganza. Sashaying disjointedly through an all-black set, the short film (what else?) flip-reverses the traditional catwalk up-and-down as the models launch themselves into the air to a pounding drum and bass soundtrack. It’s as if Cadwallader has turned out a troupe of Mugler-dripping supersheroes, which, tbh, is exactly the kind of Marvel movie we’d actually pay money to see.
Now, as the closing SS21 Mugler presentation gets its debut, we sat down with Casey Cadwallader and Alex Drewchin as they discuss first impressions, early fashion memories, creating in quarantine, and their close friendship. Watch the film below and check out the collection in the gallery above.
When I talk to Marder over Zoom, it’s January 2021, and neither of us are aware yet that
Sound of Metal will pick up six Oscar nominations: best picture, best actor, best supporting actor, best original screenplay, best sound, and best film editing. As the potential awards indicate, Marder’s fictional feature debut excels both in front of and behind the camera. The cast, many of whom are deaf actors, are all faultless, while the technical details of each scene reveal more and more nuances upon rewatching. I also notice that Marder is so invested in the story that he still speaks as if Ruben is a real person.

Zoom calls. What started off at the beginning of lockdown as a great way to stay connected to people, a handy tool to conduct your WFH meetings, the place for all those virtual pub quizzes and trivia nights, has now descended into a soulless, blank-stared hell. None of your colleagues have it in them to make small talk anymore. No one has any news anyway. Everyone has their cameras off because they are in bed and you stare at blank avatars as the disembodied voices of people you used to know drift and glitch around you. Basically it’s shit.
