To all the mothers out there, a very happy and relaxing day to you. For the mother in my household, it’s gonna be a chill one, which means I got the kiddos under my arms as I write these Bullets. I will do my best!
• Javy Báez left yesterday’s game early due to back tightness, and I wonder if we’ll see him get the day off today (thus giving him back-to-back days off with tomorrow’s off-day):
Ross said Javy left game today because of back tightness but sounded like he didn t believe it was serious. Tomorrow s status to be determined by temps/precautions as well as how much better Javy feels. #Cubs

Iowa
Ben Holmes turned in a solid start in his first game in the Cubs organization. Holmes went five innings and gave up two runs on three hits. The part of his start that doesn’t look as good is that he walked four and struck out two.
The I-Cubs had a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth when
Jake Jewell entered the game. Jewell blew the save when he allowed a solo home run to Dustin Fowler. But he got the win when Iowa scored five runs in the bottom of the inning. Jewell’s final line was one run on two hits over one inning. He struck out two and walked no one.

SOUTH BEND, IN – For the first time in over 600 days, South Bend Cubs baseball returned to Four Winds Field on Tuesday night. Fittingly in dramatic fashion it was an eighth inning flurry that broke up a tie game and sealed the victory late into the night for the home team.
Peyton Remy started on the hill for South Bend and looked dominant in the early going, striking out the first two batters of the game and piling up five strikeouts in the first three frames. The right-hander from Parker, Colo. didn’t factor in the decision, going 4.2 innings and allowing two runs (one earned), scattering three hits, and striking out six batters.
