taken her. to a local park, a few miles from the soccer field. he told me he dropped her off and he went on a separate way because she wanted to go there to meet somebody. that didn t sound right to jake. i feel like he wasn t that type of person to let her be there alone at that time of night. he was way too overprotective. something wasn t adding up for you. not at all. and there was something else that bothered him. jake told police that the isaiah he knew had always been a standup guy. but recently he d heard stories about isaiah stealing from people. his roommate was telling me, he owes us rent, he stole my tv. and i said, he did what? oh my gosh. so he was on a downward spiral. something was going on. isaiah had been borrowing money, too. halee was one friend who d helped him out. she mentioned that she had loaned him $600 to pay his rent. that s a lot of money. but apparently not enough. me and halee had been hanging out. and she goes, it
many conversations, i think she s brings that relevant part to the court that s important that she is the person that is going to be a brutal hearing process. you know, the brutal hearing process, there were three republicans that voted to put her on the d.c. appellate court. are you looking forward, perhaps, to those republicans also supporting her in this process? because at least one of them, lindsey graham, didn t sound like he was ready for? well, you know, she s the same person they supported before. but when we get to this let me, it s going to be history, and they know it. the idea that they would not support the same person with the same credentials to be on the supreme court. so what they re looking for in a supreme court justice, because she has every quality that s needed. but she also brings with her a sense of history. and i think they want to be on the right side of history at this moment. she has made some rulings
now because he understands as, as the global community understands, this is a moment of clarity. this is a moment to pick sides. and who does one stand with? does one stand with the dictators who are trying to destroy our prosperity, our freedoms, take away our ability to have a future for ourselves independent and sovereign? or does he stand with military fighting on the sides that push back against that? and i think we ve seen president biden be very resolute. and this is only accelerating that resolution. try to get to a resolution here. germany and france on that audio meeting today, didn t sound like much came out of it. what do you think of their progress or lack thereof? and are they the right countries, joel? should it be israel or turkey instead leading this? yeah, richard, this diplomacy is always needed. it s always needed to try to prod and pry and see what vladimir putin is reacting to and how he s thinking.
reporter: it didn t sound right to the cops either. but they had nothing to hold travis on. he d been cooperative, forthcoming, concerned for kenia. so they let him go. as the meeting wrapped up, travis sidled up to tony and started talking. he was crying, telling me, i promised i d take care of her. i wish i could have followed through on what i d done. i feel responsible for this. wish i could have done more. reporter: travis certainly seemed sincere. his story, though strange, was consistent. maybe he was telling the truth and that man kenia met at the gas station had abducted her. i stuck my hand out, said appreciate it. and we shook hands. and when i shook his hand, it was as if an earthquake was going on under his feet and it was only in my hand i could feel it. his arm wasn t shaking, his body wasn t shaking, there was no quivering, but i felt that shake. and i looked at him. and i knew i d shaken the hand of the last person that had seen kenia alive. there was no doubt
