Hollie Harris Phillipsis stepping up as the new president and CEO of
Appalachian Regional Healthcare, a not-for-profit system employing around 6,000 people across 13 hospitals and other additional practices.
Phillips has been with the health system since joining in 2002 as director of planning and most recently held the role of vice president for corporate strategy and chief strategy officer. Across her tenure, she’s guided strategic planning, marketing, business development, government relations and other efforts within the organization.
She will be the first woman to hold Appalachian’s top role and replaces retiring president and CEO Joe Grossman in May.
Prior to her time at Appalachian, Phillips held a manager role at LifePoint Hospitals. She holds a master’s in health administration from the Medical College of Virginia.

Eli Lilly Appoints Diogo Rau To Head Information Technology And Digital Capabilities
INDIANAPOLIS (dpa-AFX) - Eli Lilly and Company (LLY) announced Diogo Rau will join on May 17, 2021 as senior vice-president and chief information and digital officer. Rau most recently served as the top executive of information technology for retail and online stores at Apple, Inc. He succeeds Aarti Shah.
David Ricks, Lilly s CEO, said: Diogo s expertise and leadership roles at Apple, along with his extensive experience in guiding technology strategy, will be invaluable to Lilly as we change how we discover, develop, manufacture and commercialize innovative new medicines to meet the increasing expectations of patients, physicians, and health care systems.
Pharmaceutical and healthcare company Eli Lilly and Company has hired Diogo Rau, Apple s chief of information technology for online and in-store retail.
Rau will join Lilly as the company s senior vice president and chief information and digital officer, leading the company s push toward data use, analytics, and machine learning. Rau succeeds Aarti Shah, who plans to retire from the company after 27 years.
Prior to the new role, Rau spent 10 years as Apple s top executive for retail information technology. He led the development and implementation of technologies on the Apple Online Store and Apple retail store.
His work includes implementing Apple s e-commerce platform, mobile point of sale systems, the Apple Store app, and technologies used by Apple Store retail staffers.
