Die sogenannte Delta-Variante des Corona-Virus ist auch in Hamburg auf dem Vormarsch. Inzwischen ist sie hier in der Stadt wohl schon für mehr als die Hälfte der Neuinfektionen verantwortlich. Nach Informationen von NDR 90,3 betrug ihr Anteil bereits Mitte Juni mehr als 40 Prozent.
Expertinnen und Experten haben es lange vorausgesagt, jetzt bestätigen es die Zahlen endgültig: Die Delta-Variante setzt sich auch in Hamburg durch. Ende Mai war sie noch gerade einmal für eineinhalb Prozent der Fälle verantwortlich. Anfang Juni schon für 10 Prozent, Mitte des Monats waren es dann 42 Prozent. Das hat die Auswertung von Proben im Hamburger Leibniz-Institut für Experimentelle Virologie ergeben.
