In a circular dated July 7, the Madras HC registry directed that only the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Thiruvalluvar should be displayed inside the court premises.
In a circular issued to all the courts in the state, the Madras High Court said that only the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Thiruvalluvar should be displayed inside the court premises.
The Court, therefore, turned down the requests made by various advocates' associations to have the portrait of Dr. BR Ambedkar inside courts in the State.
The High Court noted that the state government has done little to publish the books on literature on reformists including Dr BR Ambedkar and make citizens aware of the same.
