Potter County to receive neighborhood planning update

The Potter County Commissioners Court is expected to receive a Neighborhood Planning Initiative progress report during Monday s regular session. Precinct Three Commissioner John Coffee requested during the Court s Feb. 22 session the information be presented.   Per the city s website, the Neighborhood Planning initiative was created via a 2016 interlocal agreement between the City of Amarillo and Potter County to aid revitalization of some of the city s older neighborhoods through the development of area-specific plans. The city and neighborhoods collaborate to identify concerns, opportunities, a vision, goals and project priorities. The four participating neighborhoods are North Heights, the Barrio, San Jacinto and Eastridge.

City offers Eastridge Neighborhood Plan update

City officials said the process of developing the Eastridge Neighborhood Plan is slated to kick off next month and acknowledged in the midst of the pandemic the exercise will be implemented in a different manner.  Mostly we want to let you know we re set to begin, Emily Koller, the city s Economic Development Neighborhood Revitalization manager, said while presenting an update  before the Amarillo City Council during its virtual regular session. This is the fourth and final of the original plan areas that were identified in the neighborhood planning initiative interlocal agreement.   According to the city s website, the three previously adopted neighborhood plans are the North Heights Neighborhood Plan, the Barrio Neighborhood Plan and the San Jacinto Neighborhood Plan.
