A former Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Prof. Osadolor Odia, has been abducted by gunmen.
He was said to be on his way to his farm at Egoro, Ekpoma, on Thursday, he was accosted by the gunmen, who whisked him away.
A source at the university, who pleaded anonymity, stated when the news of Odia’s abduction filtered in, it threw the school into panic.
“I can confirm that Prof Osadolor Odia was kidnapped today (Thursday) on his way to his farm,” the source stated.
According to the source, the kidnappers have already made contact with the family of the professor and are demanding N18m ransom.

Gunmen have struck Edo State again, this time, abducting a Professor of Engineering and former Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Osadolor Odia.
According to reports, the Don was on his way to his farm at Egoro, Ekpoma, on Thursday morning, April 29, when the incident occurred.
A source at the university, who pleaded anonymity, told The Punch Newspaper that the news of the Professor’s abduction threw the school into a panic.
“I can confirm that Professor Osadolor Odia was kidnapped today (on Thursday) on his way to his farm,” the source stated.

Odia was on his way to the farm at Ekpoma in Esan west LGA on Thursday when he was taken hostage.
NAN quoted a family member as saying his kidnappers contacted them to demand a ransom of N18 million in order to release the professor.
“I can confirm that Odia was kidnapped today on his way to the farm and a ransom of N18 million was demanded by the kidnappers,” the unidentified family member reportedly said.

Edward Aihevba, the university spokesman, also confirmed Odia’s abduction although he could not provide further details about the development.
Chidi Nwabuzor, the state police command spokesman, was not reachable for comments.

Professor Osadolor Odia of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State, has been abducted by gunmen at his farm at Egoro, Ekpoma, in Esan West Local Government Area.
Odia, a Professor of Engineering and former Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the AAU, was said to be on his way to the farm when the incident occurred.
