In the wake of severe flooding across Hawaii, state officials are directing residents to resources where they can find alerts, tips and ways to evaluate risk in a flood.
The state Department of Land and Natural Resources and other agencies offer a variety of information on flooding and the status of dams in the area, including:
• DLNR Engineering Division’s National Flood Insurance Program, www.hawaiinfip.org.
• National Flood Insurance Program, www.floodsmart.gov.
• DLNR Flood Hazard Assessment Tool, gis.hawaiinfip.org/fhat/.
• DLNR Engineering Division, Dam Safety, dlnreng.hawaii.gov/dam/.
• State Dam Inventory System, which has information on all of Hawaii’s state-regulated dams, www.dams.hawaii.gov.
