now to the story of a son fighting to save his elderly father. he s in jail for murder, a crime many people, though, believe he did not commit. someone else has now admitted to the murder. and a clemency board has recommended he be released. so why is arizona s governor refusing to let him go? dan harris reports. i want her to know who i am. reporter: here with ron kempfert, a son on a mission to confront the governor of arizona. kempfert s father was convicted in the 1970s of killing two young adults in the arizona desert. but last year in a rare move, the arizona clemency board unanimously recommended that macumber have his sentence commuted, saying an injustice had been done and pointing out that another man, ernesto valenzuela, confessed to the crime.
