The Central Region Juried Art Exhibition (CRJAE) is on display in our Main Gallery until May 27. Twenty-five pieces were selected to tour the Central Region until the end of October. The tour will continue for the month of June at the Golden Prairie Arts Council in Carman. It will then be on display in Morden at the Pembina Hills Arts Council in July. For the month of August, the tour moves to Holland and will be on display at the Tiger Hills Arts Association. The last stop on the tour is in Winkler for the month of October at Winkler Arts & Culture. The local artists whose pieces are selected to tour are: Levina Cunnigham, Robert Greenlay, Janelle Houle, Kim Malenchak, Andrew Matthews, Fran Pickell, Sandra Proulx, Darlene Vust and Melissa Woods. They are joined by Susan J Crawford-Young, Nicole Delichte, Esther Hildebrand, Barbara Kaminsky, Jean Mackie, Gisele Timmerman and Kathy Wikdahl. The magic of the BoyleSports Irish Grand National waved its wand once again to produce yet another astonishing tale, with the Dermot McLoughlin-trained Freewheelin Dylan becoming the biggest-priced winner in the race's history at 150-1 under an ecstatic Ricky Doyle.
It took the Sheila Mangan-owned winner roughly the same distance to travel to the behind-closed-doors Fairyhouse highlight on Easter Monday as it did for him to gallop into the race's history books, with the local success meaning the fulfilment of a lifetime ambition for the trainer.
McLoughlin was following in the footsteps of his late father Liam, who rode Kerforo to victory in the 1962 edition, and if ever there was a jumping performance to exemplify the spirit of an Irish Grand National winner, this was it.

Dermot McLoughlin’s charge was widely unconsidered for the €400,000 showpiece on what was his first appearance since finishing last of eight runners at Punchestown in October.
However, ridden brilliantly by Ricky Doyle, the nine-year-old was in front after jumping the first fence and was never headed.

The Irish Grand National (5.00) is the big race on the card on Easter Monday at Fairyhouse with Latest Exhibition likely to go off favourite for trainer Paul Nolan. He has plenty of class but will have to shoulder top weight to win.
I was always a fan of THE BIG DOG for this race but he was withdrawn early on Monday due to the drying ground. He is a bit of a mudlark and would have seen JJ Codd cutting to his lowest weight in almost 20 years to take the ride. With him out, I'm backing two in this year's renewal, the first being
