The Delhi Police on Friday said that 44 people, including a man who attacked a police officer with sword, have been arrested for violence at Singhu border.
Earlier in the day, tensions arose at the Singhu border after a group of people, who claim to be locals, barged into the protest site of farmers, and vandalised it. The farmers retaliated and stones were pelted by both sides. Police used tear gas and batons to resolve the situation.

Farmers' Protest Highlights: After unprecedented scenes of chaos and violence in Delhi during the tractor march by farmers on Republic Day, security was tightened around Red Fort, borders in Tikri and Singhu on January 27. The Delhi Police has registered 22 FIRs so far in connection with the violence that broke out during the farmers' tractor parade in the national capital leaving over 300 police personnel injured. Addressing a press conference, Delhi police commissioner S N Srivastava said farmer unions did not follow conditions set for the tractor rally that was supposed to be held from 12 noon to 5 PM and accused them of betrayal.

23:51 PM IST: The NBA on Wednesday sought action against persons responsible for attacks on journalists during the Republic Day violence in Delhi.
"The News Broadcasters Association (NBA) strongly condemns the deplorable attack on media persons and breaking of their equipment, during the coverage of the tractor rally taken out yesterday by farmers in Delhi in protest against the new farm laws," a statement by NBA said.
The statement added, "NBA demands that persons or hooligans responsible for the attack on the journalists and camerapersons must be identified and booked under law because these elements were obstructing media persons from performing their professional duties and were trampling upon their rights as enshrined in the Constitution."

Protesting farmer leaders on Saturday remained firm on their demand of a complete repeal of the three contentious farm laws and said their immediate focus is on the January 26 tractor parade. The union leaders said the next course of action will be decided only after the tractor parade. Farmer leaders held a marathon meeting on Saturday to reconsider the government's proposal to put the legislations on hold for 18 months, but no consensus could be reached.

Farmer unions on Thursday evening rejected the Centre’s proposal to suspend the implementation of the three laws for 1.5 years. They once again demanded a full repeal of the legislations.
The Supreme Court-appointed panel to help resolve the deadlock over the agricultural laws on Thursday began its consultation and held talks with with 10 farmers’ organistions from eight states.
Meanwhile, the second round of meeting between the police and farmer unions regarding the proposed tractor rally on Republic Day remained inconclusive. Swaraj Abhiyan leader Yogendra Yadav said the police wanted the farmer leaders to take out their tractor rally outside the national capital. “We will do our parade peacefully inside Delhi,” he added.

The tenth round of talks between the Centre and farmers at Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan has failed to break the ongoing impasse concerning the new agriculture reforms. However, the government's intent to suspend the implementation of farm laws for one year offers some hope as the farmer leaders are yet to convey their decision in the next meeting. The eleventh round of discussions is scheduled for January 22 at 12 noon.Â
During the meeting, the government said it is ready to suspend the implementation of farm laws for one year, if needed. Meanwhile, farmers said that they will deliberate upon the proposal on Thursday and communicate the decision on Friday.Â
