since the quake first hit. threat of contamination is driving concerns over seafood after japan s fifth largest sea food producer discovered tainted fish south of fukushima. should we be worried here in the states? miguel almaguer has more from los angeles. reporter: tamron, this one of the larger fish distributors along the west coast. not only does 10% of their fish come from japan, it comes in twice a week. the folks here say their fish is fresh, and it s safe to eat. and the federal government seems to agree. just yesterday the fda had an inspector at this facility who said all of the fish here is safe for consumption. still, there are some safeguards in effect. the fda says, no produce will come anywhere close from that region where the toxic nuclear water is spewing into the ocean. and this facility says they won t buy any fish from that region anyway. still, some manufacturers, some fish suppliers, say they won t
