Pella won both ends of last night’s Little Hawkeye Conference twinbill against Norwalk by double digits. The Lady Dutch rallied from a halftime deficit to win 58-46, while the Little Dutch never trailed in a 57-40 victory. Both games were heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
The Warrior girls used a 10-0 first quarter run to take control, and held on for a 23-21 lead at intermission. Eighteen of Norwalk’s points came from freshman Ava Johnson and leading scorer Bren Moritz, many on close range baskets. But Pella clamped down in the third quarter, paying particular attention to Moritz, Norwalk’s leading scorer. Coach Jerod Garland says they wanted to make sure it wasn’t easy for her.
