For education week. What is the status of the betsy devos nomination for education secretary in the senate . Early this morning, there was a vote to move her nomination to another final vote in the senate next tuesday. 5248 which is basically a long party lines. We expect a final decision on her nomination early next week. Like two senators will be voting against her, one from alaska and one from the state of maine. Are you expecting any other senators to vote across party lines . What are you hearing about the likely outcome of the nomination . We have been checking with senate republicans. So far, since those two made their announcements, no other republican senator has come out against betsy devos. If it holds right now, it would be 5050 which means mike pence would hold the tiebreaking vote which means betsy devos would be confirmed as education secretary.
