relative to normal southern europe, what we have in the jet stream is one coming out of the atlantic, pushing northwards in towards the arctic, high pressure building under that. but we have this cutoff low, then stuck across the mediterranean, piling in strong winds, heavy rain and snow, which continues to affect some over the next few days. it does mean, though, with high pressure firmly in charge, little changes for us on wednesday, there could be a few showers from the excessive amounts of cloud we have. but actually, compared to tuesday, one or two more brighter breaks, more of a breeze, but certainly sunnier to the east of the english channel, western scotland, and also across shetland. feeling colder in the wind. the breeze starts to ease down a little bit through the night and into thursday. greater chance of frost though, with clear skies in northern scotland. then there ll be the odd frost pocket elsewhere if skies clear for long enough. but certainly a chilly start to thursd
reporter: norah, good evening. it is a powerhouse storm that is hitting us in california right now, bringing everything, including significant snow. you take a look at the highest elevations, another 4-5 feet, winds gusting over 60 miles an hour, blizzard conditions at times, even in the southern california mountains. then there is a lot of rain and the forecast, as well. in the coastal locations, the valley, another 3-5 inches could lead to substantial flooding. let me break it down for you specifically, california, spiraling low here, probably does not give up heavy rain and snow until sometime late on saturday and then watch for another system to approach on sunday in northern california. all of this energy works its way to the middle of the country, by sunday producing severe weather including a chance of tornadoes, and, norah, the midwest and northeast, and another snowstorm on the way. norah: mike bettes, thank you. in a south carolina courtroom today, prosecutors grilled the
