WATERBURY – Mr. Anthony “Tony” Evangelista, 87, of Waterbury, entered into the gates of heaven on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, with the love and comfort of his family by his side, in the VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital.
Do to the COVID-19 pandemic, his wake, prayer service and military honors were postponed until this announcement.
A prayer service and military honors with Tony’s cremains present will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

TORRINGTON – Susan (Dan) Gilbert, 67, of Torrington, passed away peacefully at her home, with her family by her side, on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, after a long fight with kidney disease. She was the loving wife of William L Gilbert and mother of Michael and Matthew Gilbert.
Susan was born in Hartford on Sept. 6, 1953, daughter of the late Florence (Rosenstien) and Marshall K. Dan. She was a graduate of Torrington High, class of 1971, and the University of Connecticut, class of 1975. Susan taught at Torrington High from 1975 to 1979. During that time, she organized and coached the first Torrington High girl’s tennis team. After leaving teaching, Susan worked in the accounting industry for various CPA firms and private businesses. Prior to her retirement in 2015, she served as director of finance for NextLevel Marketing in Westport, Conn.
