Hotel bookings have soared as people turn to staycations to rescue their summer this year.
Booking levels jumped to 25% for June, 31% for July and 27% for August, according to the latest figures from the Irish Hotels Federation.
A survey from the IHF shows booking levels nationally were at just 23% and 21% respectively for the months of July and August just ahead of the announcement last month about hotels being able to reopen on June 2.
Indeed, one of the country’s most famous hotels, the luxury five-star Europe Hotel in Killarney, Co. Kerry, is almost completely booked out until September.
And the four-star Shandon Hotel and Spa in Donegal is being forced to take bookings for next summer after booking out fully for the coming months.
