Smuggling: Customs decry communities' dwindling collaboration

Smuggling: Customs decry communities’ dwindling collaboration By Hussaina Yakubu Kaduna April 29,2021 The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘B’, has decried lack of cooperation of some Nigerians in border communities to efforts of the service to check smuggling. Mr Al-Bashir Hamisu, the Comptroller of the Unit, made the remark while briefing newsmen on the activities of the unit on Friday in Kaduna. Hamisu attributed the successes recorded by the command to the improved capacity of the unit’s officers. He kicked against the attitude of some unpatriotic citizens who were aiding and abetting smuggling in the zone. According to him, the cooperation being accorded the agency and its officials from the border communities has reduced drastically.

We won't surrender to criminals — KDSG Reaction

By Hussaina Yakubu Kaduna, April 27, 2021 The Kaduna State Government has reiterated its stance not to negotiate with bandits and insisted that only total annihilation of the criminals would end banditry. The government was reacting to some commentators who blamed it for asserting that the government would not reward hoodlums. The criticism of the government followed mass abduction of students and the killing of at least five of them recently. The commentators had also unearthed a video clip in which Gov. Nasir El-Rufai had berated President Goodluck Jonathan for not negotiating with the abductors of the Chibok school girls in 2014. The government reaction was contained in a statement issued by Muyiwa Adekeye, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication, issued in Kaduna on Tuesday.
