On Tuesday a 'storm warning cage number 2' was mounted at Pamban Port in Rameswaram to warn fishermen about the Severe Cyclonic Storm 'Hamoon' over the Bay of Bengal, port officials.
Cyclonic Storm Hamoon has made landfall in coastal Bangladesh and is expected to weaken into a deep depression in the next six hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The storm, with wind speeds of 80 to 90 kmph gusting to 100 kmph, is predicted to move northeastwards and further weaken. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the affected areas until October 25. Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is expected in several regions of Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur, and east Arunachal Pradesh.
The Met office predicts that heavy to very heavy rainfall spells over Uttarakhand and Central India in the coming two days and isolated heavy rainfall after that is predicted.
