measuring keeps calling deeper into debt. if you don t keep falling soon you ll have to get one of these drastic cuts and all of america will be like prichert, alabama. this woman s angry because her husband worked for the city of prichert, alabama for 23 years and held up his end of the bargain, but the city hasn t sent him a pension check for more than a year and the city council says we don t have the money. in 2003, an accountant warned the town, you will run out of money by 2009. the politicians then did nothing. and as they admit today never changed. john: right on schedule in 2009 the town went broke and the politicians declared bankruptcy and stopped sending pension checks to retired city
lots of rich people live around here, the last thing we should get is free stuff from taxpayers. look at this. a few blocks from my apartment, they re giving away bike helmets. absolutely free. local politicians got a federal grant to help them do this. this is a big success. it s a tremendous success. john: of course it s dumb to do this especially in a rich neighborhood, but if you offer to give people free stuff they ll take it, the line went around the block. can t you afford your own helmets. you can afford your own helmet, if it s given why not take advantage. john: yeah, why not, if there s money flying around, i ll grab all i can. but to know all this money has to come from somebody, it comes from the entrepreneurs who create wealth. the bike store is down the street that sells helmets, it s not very nice for them. people can go get another helmet if they want to. give me a break. the bureaucrats proudly told
john: what s the difference public-private. president roosevelt no slouch when it comes to democrats and unions. said that public sector unions would be a problem for the united states. john: even fdr says they shouldn t have collective bargaining rights, but the public, when you do polls today, you re the evil guy who took away their rights. the unions poured money into tv ads and talked about rights. there s a movement in madison to take away rights. john: people hear rights on almost anything. civil rights, union rights, collective bargaining rights, people like rights and this is really an expensive entitlement. john: it s an entitlement that even stipulates inane minutia, the size of a bulletin board. and this is what you guys have a rule to put up a bulletin board. this is why governments go
so wasteful, there s so much to cut, without causing much real pain at all. and not just not causing pain, but helping your economy grow. helping people become better off. john: we re throwing more money in the money hole. yeah, to take that particular money hole in some states you can get unemployment benefits now for up to 99 weeks, that s positively french. so it s more serious here and we need to move more quickly than the canadians did. unfortunately, it looks to me as if we are he moving more slowly than the canadians did. john: exactly. and while canada cut and found helped them thrive. we, south of the border, pour more money into the money hole. that s our program, thanks for watching. watching. good night. captioned by closed captioning services, inc.
