The welcome snow and snow-bearing clouds are now on their way out of the Montana and Wyoming sky, and that will leave us much colder Friday morning with bitter cold wind chills. Change is ahead!
Many of us in Montana and Wyoming endured record-breaking overnight lows and dangerous wind chills on Saturday. Although Sunday will be very cold too, it won't be quite as cold and it will get warmer.

The wind will be weakening this morning, but the coldest airmass of the season thus far is pushing into the northern Plains and northern Rockies, with dangerous wind chills and more light snow coming.
The beautiful sunshine Montana & Wyoming had Tuesday will be replaced by increasing clouds, light snow showers and much stronger wind on Wednesday. Dangerously cold air will arrive before the weekend!
A trough of low pressure will push over the western United States on Sunday, and it will bring Montana and Wyoming some light snow. Much more drastic changes arrive next week with cold, wind and snow.
A disturbance moved over Montana and Wyoming Friday bringing clouds, light snow and wind, but it's on its way out. We'll have quieter weather Saturday, with much more winterlike weather next week.
A ridge of high pressure is in control of our weather at this time, but it will yield to a fast-moving area of low pressure Thursday, which will deliver high clouds and slightly stronger breezes.
We only received light snow on Saturday, but the cold air and low sun angle didn't allow for much melting on Sunday. Watch out for icy streets and sidewalks, but enjoy the quiet, white Christmas, too!
Although most of Montana and Wyoming is only receiving light snow from our latest storm, it along with a much colder Sunday morning will create slick roads and sidewalks. Be safe on Christmas Eve!
