Electric Bristol Buccaneer signals brand's revival

Bristol Cars has announced it will return to car-making in 2025 with an all-new pure-electric Bristol Buccaneer. No details of the all-new Brit EV have been released, other than its launch date, but in the build-up to its return the 76-year-old brand has confirmed it will introduce ‘remastered’ versions of the Bristol Fighter, Speedster and 411 Series 8. Among other changes, each car will be re-engineered with Chrysler’s more modern 6.4-litre HEMI V8 that’s combined with an advanced eight-speed transmission sourced from ZF. Other changes are said to include overhauled suspension, electronics, updated interiors and mild exterior tweaks. According to Bristol, the company will initially create just eight remastered cars priced from £495,000 ($A890,000) plus local taxes.

Electric Bristol Buccaneer to kickstart firm’s revival 07/05/2021, 4:46 pm The badge on the rear of a Bristol Bullet in central London, as Bristol Cars unveils its first new model since 2004. Bristol Cars is set for a revival with a new electric sports car spearheading the British firm’s rebirth. Following its liquidation last year, Bristol Cars has since been acquired by Essex-based investor and property developer Jason Wharton who has plans to transform the company into a ‘leading British electric vehicle company’ by 2026, coinciding with the brand’s 80th anniversary. Wharton initially plans to re-engineer classic versions of Bristol’s famous vehicles on a ‘build-to-order’ basis, with reborn versions of the firm’s 411 Series 8 and Fighter set to be the ‘final internal combustion engine Bristol Cars’. These vehicles will benefit from a subtle exterior facelift but utilise a 6.4-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine linked to an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. The suspension, electrical systems and interior will also be overhauled to ensure they meet modern-day standards, too. Initially, three limited-edition series of eight ‘remastered’ cars will be produced.
