Local artists beautify barricades for on-street dining Creative Portland hired the artists to create colorful covers for the metal barriers. Courtesy of Creative Portland Five local artists contributed their creativity to help beautify barricades that are being used for street closures in downtown Portland. But already, a fabric cover created by one of those artists has been stolen. Creative Portland hired the artists Angela Adams, Pam Chevez, Ebenezer Akakpo, Tamara Jones and Nora Tryon to add color, energy and messaging to the barricades, which are being used for the closures of Wharf, Dana and Milk streets, as well as a portion of Fore Street near Boothby Square.

Mechanic Falls council solves issue with town manager's contract

Read Article MECHANIC FALLS — The Town Council on Tuesday finally resolved the discrepancy between the town manager’s length of contract and the Town Charter. The charter says the town manager shall serve for a maximum three-year term. Town Manager Zakk Maher, however, was offered and signed a four-year deal when he was hired in 2018. Maher had threatened to resign for breach of contract if the council voted to change the length from four years to three to align the contract with the charter. After postponing a decision last month to consult with the town attorney, the council agreed to dissolve the current contract and offer Maher a new two-year deal. That compromise would keep the town from violating its charter while also honoring the four-year commitment to Maher.

Bouncing Back (and Forth): Statewide Reopening and Mitigation Steps (UPDATED) | Littler

To embed, copy and paste the code into your website or blog: As the trajectory of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to unfold, government officials at all levels are reevaluating their health and safety protocols and adjusting workplace guidance based on ever-shifting case metrics. While all states had begun reopening over the summer, rising cases have caused many jurisdictions to either pause their progress, or return to more restrictive measures. Jurisdictions across the country continue to progress and regress by implementing different measures, on different timetables – resulting in a patchwork that is particularly challenging for multistate employers. The chart below provides links to key reopening orders and/or mitigation measures issued in recent weeks, at the statewide level. Employers should bear in mind that these materials typically offer detailed instructions, which often vary by industry. As a result, it is important to review each order along with any corresponding official guidance to get a complete picture of all requirements and how they may impact each employer’s operations. We will update this list regularly but expect it will become outdated quickly as new announcements are made.

Governor discusses health care, education, economy in budget address

State of Maine COVID-19 Response My Administration has sought to do its part to protect the lives and livelihoods of Maine people. With help from the Maine Legislature last spring, we began rallying the forces necessary to help people who were suffering job losses, to get food to school children and to build out our team of health professionals to protect Maine families from this dangerous virus. My Administration implemented public health and safety measures, dialing them up and then scaling them down when we believed the circumstances demanded it. We directed people to wear masks in public, much the same as they would wear a hard hat at a construction site or safety glasses and ear protectors in a paper mill. We asked you to watch your distance and avoid large gatherings. And you did.
