In testimony to legislators regarding several proposed laws in this session related to housing and zoning changes, P&Z Chairman Steve Olvany said the commission believes Darien residents are better served by their own local officials. The testimony on three bills proposed from Olvany urged the lawmakers to preserve local control over zoning, land use and housing matters affecting Darien and all other municipalities in the state.

The explosion happened Friday in Klein, said Rachel Neutzler, a spokesperson for the Harris County fire marshal. The CenterPoint Energy workers were repairing a 2-inch gas line when they struck a larger one, sparking the explosion, she said. Officials from the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office said that a crew from Comcast was working in the area and nicked a natural gas line. The crew called in a CenterPoint crew to inspect the line which is when two lines exploded, officials said. A representative of Comcast said a contractor cut a small line in an area where the line was incorrectly marked. The representative said CenterPoint crews hit a larger line while repairing the small line.

Several workers injured in natural gas explosion in Klein area, authorities say CNN Newsource and last updated 2021-03-06 12:06:42-05 A massive natural gas fire in Harris County Friday sent several people to the hospital. Seven CenterPoint Energy workers were injured in the massive gas fire near Klein, according to KTRK. Comcast crews were in the area working when they punctured a gas line, the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office said. CenterPoint Energy crews were then sent to fix the line. As they were leaving, crews hit what was described as a 6-inch high pressure natural gas line, which is considered a main line, according to KTRK.

Politico, the New York Times and the Washington Post report that Federico Klein, 42, was arrested in Virginia on Thursday. He’s the first member of the Trump administration to be charged in connection with the breach of the Capitol. In a charging document published by the New York Times, investigators allege that Klein “violently shoved a riot shield that apparently had been taken from an officer” while trying to breach the doors to the building.
