Delayed wages scuttle MGNREGS in Nuapada Post News Network
Nuapada: This tribal-dominated district is better known for high migration of labourers. To check their exodus, the government spends crores of rupees under MGNREGS, but the Centre-sponsored scheme seems to have failed to achieve its objectives due to irregularities or delayed payment of wages in some cases.
It is said that timely clearance of wages can be a factor for success of the scheme in the backward district. The scheme assumes much importance for daily wagers and job card holders during the ongoing pandemic-troubled times.
The government laid thrust on proper implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGREGS) as a panacea to ensure earning scope for the rural workforce in their localities at this difficult time.

BHUBANESWAR: The Centre's decision to cancel the Class-XII board examination to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday got a mixed response from students.
Parents and students were greatly relieved as there was a worry over students appearing for an offline examination at the time when the Covid-19 infection is at its peak. Though Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the decision was taken in the 'interest of students', many students felt their hard work had been wasted.
Hours after the Centre called off the Class-XII board exams, the Council of Indian Certificate of Secondary Examination (CICSE) also cancelled the Class XII (ISC) 2021 examination. "There was much uncertainty and confusion over whether the exams would be held or not. Now it is a big relief that we won't have to go to the exam centres amid a pandemic," said Sreya Rath a Class-XII student of SAI International School. However, some students said they are 'confused' and 'worried' about the alternative marking system for assessment. The Class-XII results will be made according to a well-defined objective criteria in a time bound manner, government sources said.
