Jackson Center accepting applications for 2021 teacher fellow week | News, Sports, Jobs

Pictured are 2020 Robert H. Jackson Center Teacher Fellows. The Robert H. Jackson Center is calling all educators to design creative ways to educate students on the legacy of Robert H. Jackson. For the week of July 19-23, instructors will work with the Jackson Center Archives and local institutions to create educational experiences through the relevance of Jackson’s body of work. Participants will be encouraged to empower and inspire students to discuss and reflect on the universal principles of equality, fairness, and justice. “2020 gave us the opportunity to test-drive our Teacher Fellow program in a hybrid format,” said Kristan McMahon, Jackson Center president. “We’re excited to offer the fellowship week this year with options for in-person or virtual participation, expanding this program to educators nationally.” To be accepted into the program, educators must demonstrate excellence in the classroom and participation in community and professional organizations,

Jackson Center Sets Webinar | News, Sports, Jobs

Jan 19, 2021 The Robert H. Jackson Center will host Francine Hirsch, historian and professor, as its Al and Marge Brown Lecturer on World War II, scheduled as a free webinar on Monday, Feb. 8, at 3 p.m. The webinar will focus on the research and history Hirsch uncovered to write her latest book, Soviet Judgment at Nuremberg: A New History of the International Military Tribunal After World War II. The book presents the first complete picture of the role of the Soviet Union in the Nuremberg Trials. Drawing on thousands of documents from the former Soviet archives, it reveals the unexpected contribution of Stalin’s Soviet Union to the International Military Tribunal and to the postwar development of international law. Hirsch is the Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor of History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a historian of Modern Europe with a specialization in Russia and the Soviet Union.
