Immortal Data: Aiming for the Stars but Grounded in Las Cruces

Dale Amon had already drawn up a list of places to grow his next venture, Immortal Data. “The shortlist winner was clearly Las Cruces,” he said. “I wanted to be at an airport because if you're doing aerospace, you want aerospace people walking past your doors.” Immortal Data has been at the Las Cruces International Airport since 2019. With about ten employees, some retired with forty years of experience at NASA and Boeing, CEO Amon brings his expertise in aerospace – previously at XCOR Aerospace – to the newly named Las Cruces Innovation & Industrial Park (LCIIP). Immortal Data creates the black boxes, and other low-cost electronics, for spacecraft. “Each module on the spacecraft carries its own GPS so that you have tracking. If there is an incident, you could trace back to what happened at the time of the breakup,” Amon said.

New Infrastructure for Las Cruces West Mesa Industrial Park Treatment Facility

By cassie mcclure for lcu • 2 hours ago The West Mesa Industrial Park Wastewater Treatment Facility (Facility), operated by Las Cruces Utilities (LCU), treats approximately 150,000 gallons of wastewater per day. There’s plenty of equipment that helps those thousands of gallons get processed, and over time, that equipment needs to get replaced. “Those aeration blowers were originally purchased and installed new at the Jacob Hands Wastewater Treatment Facility in 1983 and 1984,” Joaquin Murillo, LCU assistant plant manager, said. “They supplied air for our Jacob Hands Wastewater Treatment Facility Aeration Basin up until the year 2000 when LCU added a second aeration basin to the process.”

Doña Ana County capital projects that got funded and sponsoring lawmakers

View Comments LAS CRUCES – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham approved $28.2 million in capital outlay projects for Doña Ana County as part of a $511 million capital bill this month; and for the first time, the public can see how and where state legislators and the governor directed the public infrastructure dollars under their discretion.  That's because lawmakers passed a law during this winter's 60-day legislative session requiring the previously secret funding requests to be published by the Legislative Council Service along with the funded projects, including projects that were vetoed.  Lujan Grisham vetoed a small percentage of projects, including three in Doña Ana County, explaining in a statement that she eliminated projects that were too small (under $10,000), projects "where the proposed recipients have not used capital funds from the current fiscal year," were not properly planned or otherwise not ready to proceed.
