Three people who allegedly supplied ammunition to the gunman who murdered 22 people in the April 18-19 mass shooting in Nova Scotia are scheduled for court hearings today.

Torngat fallout
Reaction to Ryan's candidacy has been steady, and the candidate himself took exception to some Facebook comments that his opponent, incumbent Lela Evans, had engaged with on Facebook. He said Evans was encouraging "bullying" and attached an image that appeared to show she "loved" a Facebook comment calling Ryan an idiot.
It’s really unfortunate that the PC candidate wants to open a platform on social media to promote and encourage bullying against me. I will stay the high road and focus on the topics of the district. a href "https://twitter.com/CBCNL?ref_src twsrc%5Etfw" @CBCNL /a a href "https://twitter.com/StJohnsTelegram?ref_src twsrc%5Etfw" @StJohnsTelegram /a a href "https://twitter.com/NTVNewsNL?ref_src twsrc%5Etfw" @NTVNewsNL /a a href "https://twitter.com/VOCMNEWS?ref_src twsrc%5Etfw" @VOCMNEWS /a a href "https://twitter.com/CBCPolitics?ref_src twsrc%5Etfw" @CBCPolitics /a a href "https://twitter.com/hashtag/nlpoli?src hash&ref_src twsrc%5Etfw" #nlpoli /a a href "https://t.co/en4oCvGTds" pic.twitter.com/en4oCvGTds /a —@devon_ryan4

Nominations for the province's 2021 general election officially closed on Saturday, with 41 women and one non-binary candidate in the running.
In this election, 12 more women have put their name on the ballot compared to the previous election in 2019, where 29 women ran. In 2015, there were 33.
"It's exciting to see the number of women candidates growing, and also other forms of diversity entering into that political sphere," said Courtney Clarke, media liaison with Equal Voice NL — a group dedicated to electing and supporting women in all levels of government.

The district has a long list of serious and ongoing issues that need addressing, Andersen said — including lack of access to health care, a housing crisis, limited transportation, food insecurity and high cost of living — as well as issues specific to Indigenous communities.
Andrea Andersen says it was a quick election call and nomination process, and she believes there may have been a rush to find a candidate in Torngat Moutains.(Al MacCormick/CBC)

Andrew Furey promised Thursday there's no "frightening" budget coming should he and his Liberal Party win the upcoming election, as he defended — yet again — the still-to-be seen Moya Greene report.
The Liberal leader was forced to the defensive Thursday in St. John's as he took questions from reporters, who quizzed him on how he plans to address the province's fiscal situation, and what role the Greene report will play in those moves.
"There is no simple solution to this," he said. "There's not going to be an incredibly blunt and frightful budget that shocks everybody into their basements. That's not going to happen.
