Speaking at the flag-off of the intervention programme held at the Ndubiusi Kanu Park, Alausa, Ikeja, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals and Investment, Mrs. Solape Hammond described the project as part of government’s response to ameliorate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the vulnerable individuals and small business owners.

CBN set to restructure the Nigerian Commodities Exchange in 90 days

The Central Bank of Nigeria has announced its plans of obtaining all statutory approvals and support necessary to restructure and reposition the Nigerian Commodities Exchange (NCX) within the next 90 days. This disclosure was made today by the Governor of the CBN, Mr. Godwin Emefiele at the Inaugural Meeting of the Steering Committee, set up to reposition the exchange. Mr. Emefiele emphasized that the apex bank had gotten a prior approval from the President, Muhammadu Buhari to restructure the NCX, in a bid to stabilize food prices in the country. Commenting on the plans, Mr. Emefiele said: “In the next 90 days we should be able to really begin the first launch and this will involve approvals on repositioning, restructuring, setting up bureaus, board structures, board committees, governance committees.’’

  The Lagos State Government in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has kicked-off a cash-for-work programme for vulnerable people in the State with the aim of cushioning the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic. Speaking at the flagging off of the intervention programme held at Ndubusi Kanu Park, Alausa, Ikeja, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals and Investment, Mrs. Solape Hammond described the project as part of government’s response to ameliorate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the vulnerable individuals and small business owners. According to her, the project which is a collaborative effort between the State government and UNDP with the support of Japan Government will be providing grant to 945 Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) to resuscitate their businesses which have been affected by the pandemic and the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest.

Lagos mobilises local efforts towards attainment of SDGs On Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State. As part of the strategic efforts towards making substantial progress in the actualisation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Lagos State Government has encouraged local authorities to promote coherent and integrated policies and initiatives that will support the targets of SDGs. This was made known at a forum organised by the Office of Sustainable Development Goals and Investment with the theme; Activating Broad Enlightenment and Capacity Building on Sustainable Development Goals for Critical Stakeholders in Local Government in Lagos State, held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, GRA, Ikeja.
