Valley News - Forum, April 23: Letter's argument on Newport board member falls apart

Published: 4/22/2021 10:00:05 PM Modified: 4/22/2021 10:00:03 PM Letter’s argument on Newport board member falls apart I am responding to Newport School Board member Linda Wadensten’s Forum letter (“Newport board member unwilling to collaborate,” April 12). My credibility for what I am writing comes from 10 years of School Board participation as a citizen, as a district employee and as a committee member of the School Board. It seems easy to comply with the procedures to become a school board member. I have been through those on different occasions. Where the argument falls apart is mostly in the last paragraph, which asks: “I wonder why Bert Spaulding Sr. wanted to become a Newport School Board member.” I will note that most School Board members have children going through the district’s schools. Is that why they all ran? Spaulding ran with no bias toward his own; he ran to work hard for everyone all citizens.
