Olli Harder: It’s a small step forward towards survival
West Ham United Women’s manager Olli Harder reflected on his sides 0-0 draw with Aston Villa in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
The Hammers and Villa battled it out at Victoria Road, with neither side able to break the deadlock before the final whistle sounded on Tuesday evening.
The New Zealander’s side had a number of good opportunities in the second half but couldn’t secure all three points – which would have been precious in their pursuit of pulling themselves away from the threat of relegation.
The Villain’s move is a smart solution, combining age and experience with youth and potential, writes Rich Laverty.
At first glance, Aston Villa’s decision to demote head coach Gemma Davies this week may have raised a few eyebrows.
In a rather surprising and shocking turn of events, it was announced that former Birmingham City manager Marcus Bignot will take over, with Davies returning to a coaching role.
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Marcus Bignot as Interim Manager with immediate effect.
The current Aston Villa Women’s coaching team, led by Gemma Davies, remain in their existing positions.

Chelsea FCW suffered the disappointment of the weekend match against Bristol City getting postponed due to an unplayable pitch. The Blues were all ready to set the WSL record for the longest unbeaten run ever at 32 games.
That remarkable feat, dating back to January 2019, will now have to be set against Aston Villa, a match that itself was postponed earlier, due to COVID quarantine protocol.
Assuming the match is played, Chelsea have a chance to make history.
